Böbby Fischér-sön

The legendary chess player, Bobby Fischer, is finally free…kind of. After being detained in Japan for nearly 8 months, Iceland has granted him a passport and citizenship.

The US said it was disappointed at the move.

Mr. Fischer is a fugitive from justice,” said a US state department spokesman.

Iceland is welcoming Bobby with open arms…mostly due to the fact that his historic win over Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess championship, put Iceland ‘on the map’.
